During Oct 2026 several team members from the Buckinghamshire healthcare NHS trust cardiac rehabilitation unit attended the BACPR (British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation) annual conference held in Birmingham, funded by a donation from Hearts & Souls covering the entry, accommodation and travel.
This was a two-day event that provided the most up-to-date evidence and practice across the core components of cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation; it also gave the team an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from other hospitals who also work in the same field.
Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) Nikki Stafford said:
“On behalf of the cardiac rehabilitation team at Wycombe Hospital, thank you for generously funding our attendance at the BACPR conference in Birmingham. We really appreciated the opportunity to learn and share ideas with colleagues from other services.
The conference covered topics closely linked to our everyday work, including reducing cardiovascular risk, tackling health inequalities and supporting patients’ psychological wellbeing. These themes gave us plenty to consider, from reviewing our patient education to finding ways to make rehabilitation more accessible to those who find it difficult to attend.
There was also a focus on digital tools and the patient voice, offering ideas for more flexible support and involving patients in shaping our service. We’ll be sharing the learning with the wider team and discussing what we can put into practice.
Thank you to everyone at Hearts and Souls whose fundraising made this possible. Your continued support means a great deal to our team and helps us improve the care we offer our patients.”
