Lockdown Hearts & Souls Half Marathon

After a frustrating year of disruptions and cancellations it is pleasing to hear that a new mum of twin boys, Emily Simpson, has decided to support Hearts & Souls while regaining her fitness, by running a half marathon on 24th April on behalf of her close friend, Gina.

Gina, who also recently had her second child was diagnosed with heart failure brought on through the pregnancy and feared not being around to see two young children grow.

She attended the cardiac rehabilitation at Stoke Mandeville and describes it as a turning point – ‘Being surrounded by other people who had also experienced a cardiac event was strangely comforting. Being able to safely begin exercising again with trained professionals in the room was crucial to mending myself, both physically and mentally’.

Lockdown Hearts & Souls Half Marathon

Hearts & Souls are a small local charity based in Wycombe hospital helping to fund the highly successful cardiac rehabilitation programme in Bucks which helps over 1,000 patients return to normal life each year. Due to Covid-19 all charity led fund raising events in the past year have been cancelled so efforts like this are vital to the charity and really deserve full support. Well done to Emily for doing this on behalf of your friend and in turn helping other recent cardiac victims.
