It was also a good to meet up with our patron, Tony McHale, who gave the charity a glowing endorsement during his opening dialogue today.

It has been a pleasure to talk to many people who have shared their own stories or just find out about the charity and the work we do supporting the local cardiac rehab., not just today but over all the events attended this month from the ‘Health on the High Street‘ in High Wycombe library to the Tesco bucket collection at Loudwater Tesco, Downley Day and the Rebellion Quiz Night – it has been a fun experience and there must now be many of our much sought after syringe pens in households around South Bucks!
Our grateful thanks are extended to all the organisations who have supported and hosted us over the past month not forgetting all our volunteers and helpers who made these events possible for us just to be there.

It is with much pleasure that Hearts & Souls send our sincere congratulations to both Nikki and his wife on the birth of their 4th child, Raif, a son who was born on 16/06/26 at 6:00 p.m.

They now have a team of 4 boys and with ages of 8, 6 and 5, they will be quite a handful … (so, be easy on him when he returns to work)!

A series of 6 quiz nights have been held over the past few weeks with all the proceeds going to Hearts & Souls. For the last quiz, a group of trustees took part on an extremely hot night and did not disgrace ourselves achieving a very respectable score of 36/60, more important was the very credible £159.00 was raised on the night, but overall totalled an exceptional £1,123.45 over the series.

Our grateful thanks go to the Rebellion Brewery for hosting us as the nominated charity and making feel so welcome, Sharon the quiz master for a really fun night and everyone who has contributed over the past few weeks.

This was also the first opportunity for us to showcase our new branded events gazebo, supported by a generous grant from RedKite Community Housing making this purchase possible which greatly enhances our presence at outdoor events.

On a hot day, a good turnout at the fete generated a fair interest in the charity as we spoke with quite few people about the charity and how we support the cardiac rehab in Bucks, we also returned a small profit through donations and selling bottles of chilled water which will be used to help fund the rehab. team – thank you to the good people of Downley for highly successful and enjoyable day.

Our grateful go to Tesco and their generous customers who took a some time out from their shopping to chat to us as well as donating their loose change which totalled about £200.00

We were pleased to be joined by Clare Hobbs, a cardiac nurse from the rehab. unit at Wycombe hospital who was available to answer questions on cardiac health.

Also present for a short while was Kaitlyn Summerfield who has been instrumental in our recent rebranding and arranging the events for us the showcase the charity.

Caitlin who only started running 2 years ago, starting out on the ‘couch to 5K’ with the Handy Cross Runners, ran in aid of Hearts & Souls after being inspired by her father Gary’s, treatment and recovery through the Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust cardiac rehabilitation programme at Wycombe hospital following his heart attack last year. We are justly proud that she has chosen our charity to support and to give back to future cardiac patients; our grateful thanks are extended to her and her father.

Her fund raising page was kept busy throughout her training and even on the run day where she has smashed through £2,000.00 with the page still open for further donations. This is an absolute brilliant achievement which moves her up to the 5th highest ever individual fundraiser on our JustGiving page!

“I was delighted to reach the £2000 mark and so pleased to have run for a local charity that really means something to me! I unfortunately had some trouble with my left knee that appeared on the day at about mile 16 through to mile 20. Thankfully the St Johns Ambulance taped it up, I took some painkillers and then managed to successfully complete the course!”

Events like this are vitally important to the charity in order to raise funds, this being the first supporter led event in 5 years. This, and any other donations received by Hearts & Souls, will go directly to support the cardiac rehab team to improve the outcome for recovering cardiac patients.
